Shaikha Camille Helminski and Shaikh Kabir Helminski are faculty members of the Spiritual Paths Institute and revered teachers of the Mevlevi Islamic Sufi tradition founded by Jalaluddin Rumi in the thirteenth century. Together and separately they have authored many books on Sufism and are the founders of the Threshold Society that has provided programs on Sufism for over thirty years. In each of our programs, they lead the Spiritual Paths students and faculty in a form of music, chant, and movement based on ancient Muslim traditions that we call our “InterSpiritual Zikr.”

Shaikh Kabir Helminski discusses the Sufi tradition and its relation to Islam. For Helminski, contemplative practice stills the mind and moves us to a transformative perception of divine reality. Kabir Helminski is a founder and director of the Threshold Society. He has been working within the Mevlevi tradition of Sufism for about thirty years and is the author/translator of several books of Sufi poetry.
