The Longing for True Words

A group reflection led by Kabir and Camille Helminski on 4 readings taken from ‘Rumi’s Sun: The Teachings of Shams of Tabriz’. Various themes are touched upon including: Connecting to silence; Training to be a source which radiates blessing not negativity; The creative power of the Word with a comparison of the Quranic verse in which God says ‘be’, and the beginning of the bible, ‘In the beginning was the Word’; Zhikr as the Word which brings us toward God; The relationship between silence and the Word; Questioning whether one’s words come from the Universe of Spirit? Desires can bring one to lightness or to darkness and it is for the individual to decide whether a particular desire is darkening them; Generosity as the source of sustenance and as the means by which one creates spiritual capital (by giving to one another, we create a connection which opens doors); One should always go deeper behind the apparent meaning of actions and words; the longing for true and sincere words over those that are simply sweet diplomacy.
