These letters from Celaleddin B. Çelebi Efendi were written in 1991 to Kabir and Camille Helminski, and relate to the role of women and mixed Sema.

They are offered here, with gratitude and love.

The letters include Çelebi Efendi’s reflections on the inner essence of Sema, the importance of preserving its beauty, maturity, and adab, and his blessing for mixed Sema to be shared publicly on 30 September and 17 December.

“I don’t think anybody has the right to differentiate between women and men, as God gives this right for the existence and the continuation of being of human beings. We are obliged to give the same rights to both of them as creatures of God.”

And in the message received from Hz. Mevlana:

“For how long will these clean and pure hearts remain patiently in the earth?
Go all together, jump up, explode, exit the tombs.
A favor of forces comes to you as help.”

With thanks to Ana for preserving and sharing these letters.
