Join us for a weekend of reflection on the transformation of love and loss. We will focus on Surah Al-‘Asr and Rumi as our guides. Through sohbet, meditation, zikr, music and time in nature, we will strive to attune our hearts and deepen our capacity to listen.
The monastery grounds consist of more than 130 acres of land, including Lost Lake, the restored prairie and savanna areas, woodlands, buildings, gardens, orchards, and nature trails.
Khadim Chishti is a khalifa (deputy teacher) of the Threshold Society and follows the Mevlevi path of Jalaluddin Rumi under the guidance of Shaikh Kabir and Camille Helminski. Khadim has been on the Sufi path since 1974. She has also been initiated as a senior teacher in the Chishti Sufi Order of the West under Pir Vilayat Khan, and as a khalifa in the Helveti Jerrahi under Shaikh Nur Lex Hixon. She trained with a Lakota Medicine Man while he lived in Portland, Oregon for a time and was adopted as his sister. She also spent time with Trappist monks in Lafayette, Oregon, becoming the first woman to spend the night at the retreat house and opening the way for women’s full participation in the community. She has been leading a Sufi circle for over 40 years in her local community in Portland, Oregon, with a global weekly zikr and Mesnavi circle. She has taught in Islamabad, Pakistan, as well as other online communities.
